The Self-Sufficient-ish Bible published in 2008 was a groundbreaking guide to sustainable living. The book covered a wide range of topics from urban vegetable growing and ethical shopping to overland travel and family. Although many other books followed, it was one of the first books to examine what could be done in an urban setting rather than escaping to the countryside to become self-sufficient. Much of the content followed my lifestyle at the time when I grew or foraged the majority of my food. The book has never been more relevant and although now out of print, second hand copies still continue to sell.
